If you could see on the map how schizophrenic I was with this run, you would probably shake your head and laugh. My route was created completely on-the-spot, as I was running. I knew that I had about an hour to run before I had to pick my roommate up, so I parked downtown and just started running. It felt awesome.
About 3 miles in, I was doggin' it. I couldn't believe I had only gone 3 miles but still felt pretty tired. I chalked it up to the fact that I cross trained yesterday and just kept pushing. I was also getting a little bored with the scenery, so I decided to head up onto campus, rather than on the streets downtown to see if that helped.
Once I made it back to campus and up the infamous steps near South Halls, I scaled up Bigler Road all the way to Park Ave (you can see this from mile 3.9 to about 5.0 on the elevation map). Once I got to Park, elevation wasn't an issue, but the wind picked up and tested my staying power. Back down toward the library and back downtown I was on my home stretch when I got the call to pick up my roommate. I picked up the pace, made it back to my car, and felt awesome when I saw I had kept a respectable pace over the course of the run.
The best part of this run was "running into" some friends - probably the best part of any run downtown. One felt the need to chase me, one smiled and waved, and one ran with me for a bit to talk about tonight's plans. You can't get better than that.
Now it's time to recover. I came home and had a Green Monster Smoothie, a Healthy Choice meal, wrote a paper, did some research, and now I'm watching TV while b(logging). Tomorrow is a full day of classes and work. No running, unfortunately, but I think my body needs a little rest and some good food.
(Insert sighhhhh)
